Battle of the best!

Down to the wire and the Sader's take on the Canes this weekend at Lancaster Park! Go Sader's go..... going to kick some Cane Ass! Of course my girlfriend will make me eat those words when she gets here in two weeks for my wedding if her team take us out LOL!

Two weeks Friday Jude!!! can you believe it, I am so damn excited. Of course the rest of my family are following two days later.... good times are a coming!

Kiwigirl – Wed, 05/18/2005 – 8:07am

Look out BC! Kiwi's hitting the road......

So did I? YES! I passed my Class 5 licence today and now am fully legal to hit the highway solo. My first test will be driving out to New Westminster on Thursday for my Bridal Gown fitting, how exciting!! I have to admit, once I got going on my test, I felt much better, and the examiner made me feel comfortable, in fact I am likely to run into her at the gymn in the morning as we discovered we go to the same gymn around the same time LOL! Anyhow, I am happy to be back behind the wheel of a car for the first time in 5 years.

Do I mention wedding plans? *snicker* well of course, considering it's now 4 weeks on Saturday!! This weekend is insanely busy for us as we have to hit the road to Kamloops and be up there for a 10am appointment. Of course when I booked all these I forgot we would be dancing still on Friday nights, so it's going to be one early start, having to leave the coast no later than 6am.... I better make sure the coffee is good and strong ;o) The realisation it is May astounds me, it's incredible to me how the time is flying, and in fact almost scarey... I feel like life is racing by right now, and I am not sure how to slow it down. Is it the anticipation of looking forward to things like the wedding? going home to NZ in the autumn? or is it the fact that the saying of "the older you get the quicker it goes" really true? I do sometimes ponder at the fact I am 35 and it's 5 years since I left home, or 16 years since I lived in London, or 25 years since my first Nana passed away... You really do have to stop and smell the roses, or life just passes you by.

Today was just the weirdest day... firstly I got to work, and my collegue was in tears, they lost their beloved dog on Saturday night, she just up and died in a matter of hours (most likely cancer, but still a big shock), then a couple I know through work lost their little baby girl in the weekend, carrying to only 28 weeks, and to top things off.. my former boss in Auckland passed away recently of Lukemia I found out through a close friend, hell I didn't even know he was sick........ tomorrow, I plan to stop, take a deep breath, look around me... and find a rose to smell.

Kiwigirl – Mon, 05/09/2005 – 9:18pm

My bad for not updating :o(

I'm tooooo busy! honest, I am. Anyhow I do have some news, and I will blog tonight because that way I can also tell you if I passed or failed my BC driving test in two hours (feeling naucious right now).... more later

Ahhh the dreaded 6 month trip to the dentist......

fortunately I have nothing wrong, yay!! Yes today was the check up, and now I have pearly whites for the wedding. Acutally, I asked my dentist his honest opinion, and if he had any tips for my teeth for the big day. He did explain they could give me moulds with bleach that I put in at night for awhile, and that would be around $250 (not covered by my dental plan of course), but he said "honestly, most people would kill for teeth like yours", so I took that as a good sign, and said "I'll run with these then"

So more wedding stuff!!, well it's hard to blog on much else right now, as really with only 6 weeks till the big day, we are pretty focused on stuff for or to do with the wedding. Have a bunch of more soaps to make this weekend, and also start cutting up some of the drink tickets that I have printed. Dancing continues tomorrow night of course with more Waltzing, and perhaps another dance towards the end of the evening. My honey and I just did a little practicing in our living room, although there is not alot of room to move. I have lost my steps on the twirl, so will have to have one of the instructors go over that with me again tomorrow. With only two days left in April (looks at the calendar in shock) May is going to be super busy, and the day will be here before we know it.

Last night we had a pretty good game of softball.. *cough* 29-6 *cough* was the final score to us.. so you could say we kicked some serious ass! I did pretty well on 2nd again, although not quite as well as last week, still I got a couple of outs. My honey did a bit of a roll and flip on the gravel (yes we play mostly on sucky gravel fields) and scraped a bunch of skin off *sigh* thankfully not his face... the closer I get to the wedding, the more I am worried about injuries...

Well, going to go vegie out for a bit.... brush up on my road rules a bit more, only 11 days till my road test *tremble*

To all Kiwi's and Aussies alike...... we remember....

Today is Anzac day, well down under anyway.... here in Canada it is tomorrow. For us, this is poppy day, just like November 11th here, and so today we remember our fallen heros on the beaches at Gallipoli. Just to show they remember us here in North America too, here is an article from the CBC news site

Kiwigirl – Sun, 04/24/2005 – 9:46pm

Ok, time to stop procrastinating!

I am generally not a procrastinator, but on this issue... it's time to do it!! After 5 years of being in Canada it's time!!!.... yes I am talking about my drivers licence. May 9th is the big day... 3.15pm PDT. Am I scared?, a little... but considering I have been driving since I was 16 how hard can it be right? well considering I now drive on the other side of the road and the other side of the car, not to mention parallel parking the opposite way, oh yes and then there is the, *you can go on a red light here in certain situations*, 4 way stops (they don't like roundabouts in Canada, too scarey for them lol) it's been quite the adjustment. Thankfully, because I hold a licence from another country and have more than 2 years driving experience, I do not have to do the graduated driving program here. I basically sat and passed my knowledge and was given a driving permit to practice on, as long as I had another licensed driver in the car with me.

I really want to try and have my licence before the wedding, as with so much running around to do, I don't want to have to be relying on people all the time to go with me, not to mention even just going to get groceries, or wanting to go somewhere spur of the moment right now is just a hassle. So wish me luck and lots of good thoughts! And if I don't pass, then just have to keep trying until I do, although at $50 a shot it could get costly :o(

It is the most gorgeous day here in Vancouver, spring is fully here with the long hours of daylight and temps in the high teens/low 20's the last few days. I am taking advantage and wearing my new spring clothes and sandals.... I look oh so cute in pink and white day.. hehe

Wedding plans are rolling along and with 7 weeks to go, my excitement level is continuing to build. 6 weeks till my friends and family arrive now. Dance lessons continue this evening with the introduction of the triple step Jive, eeek! I just mastered the two step.... should be a laugh nonetheless. Well must stop blogging at work and get back to it... Good luck to the Crusaders! and all the Kiwi teams in the Super 12 this week, although I see the Canes lost.... poop I think I picked them in my Super 12. Sorry Jude :(

Kiwigirl – Fri, 04/22/2005 – 9:22am

Doing the two step Jive!

So last Friday my sweetheart and I started our 6 weeks of ballroom dancing lessons consisting of the Jive, Waltz, Foxtrot and Tango. I have to say despite my inability to get my left and right correct and my sometimes lowly lack of coordination, I did ok! I came out of there feeling like I achieved something, and now we must practice practice! before next Friday.

The weeks seems to be going by so fast now, and I guess because the excitement continues to build for the wedding.... sorry to bore you all, but it's a huge day for us :o) I have to admit, still hard to believe I am getting married again some days, but I can't wait to walk down the aisle. Of course a new name to get used to again *sigh* and I just perfected this one lol! Oh well, I'm moving on up in the alphabet.

The Saders had an awesome game this weekend, and kicked the Stormers in the balls so to speak ;o) I feel like this could be the year again for the black and reds.... I only wish I could catch a highlight... damn you Sportsnet for not showing Super 12 this year!!!, it's not like there is any damn NHL to show *grumble*

Spring has sprung this week and it's going to be 20 here tomorrow!! yay. Time to bring out my new cute Capri pants and sandles. Of course I had to paint the toes up nice tonight, so it's all good....., well must hit the hay as 5am comes around fast and then it's off to the gymn for that 50 min workout before work....

PS: Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Kiwigirl – Mon, 04/18/2005 – 9:20pm

Carolyn, this updates for you ;o)

Once again my updating has been a bit lax, I just find it's tough to keep up with all what is going on. Firstly though, what the hell happened to the Crusaders!! How could you loose to the Bulls?!? *rolls eyes* You were my sure thing in Virtual Super 12, so it's just as well I got the rest of the games right.... jeebus!

Of course wedding plans are coming along, I hate to bore you all with this, but it is 9 weeks and counting!! Of course, if you're bored with it, then don't read it :o) I still pinch myself a little to think I'll be wallking up the aisle soon surrounded by friends and family... it's such a good feeling. I can't wait to see my Kiwi contingent from home who are coming all this way to be with us on our special day.... you know it means more than words to have you all here, I wish more of you could come.

On the home front it was a beautiful day yesterday and we got a bunch of stuff done... managed to score a dining table and 6 chairs for free! bonus I say.... the chairs need a little sprucing up, but other than that it's nice to be able to have more than one person over for dinner now ;o)

With no NHL hockey this season, and the Vancouver Giants gone from the playoffs it's been a bit quiet for sport here for me, but thankfully baseball has kicked off!! and speaking of which our softball team cranks into life next Wednesday. We had a practice yesterday, and needless to say my muscles are feeling it a little bit this morning *owie*. Our dancing lessons also kick off next Friday... we are learning the Waltz, Tango, Jive and Foxtrot over the next 6 weeks so should be a good laugh. *makes mental note to buy Adam some steel toe boots*

My new job is going along fine, and am now fully comfortable with most day to day things... also having my own office is sitting very well with me. The girl that I replaced is off on a wonderful world adventure for 6 months with her husband. Denise is one of my good friends and I miss her dearly, but from the emails I have been getting they are just having an awful time of it *sarcastic laugh*. They are in Thailand right now, and enjoying what can only be described as Paradise (their own words). I wish them a safe and wonderful journey, and can't wait to see her in the autumn with so many tales to tell and pictures to show.....well must away to my Sunday chores before heading out this afternoon to my soon to be sister-in-laws place for dinner....

Kiwigirl – Sun, 04/10/2005 – 10:51am

Seriously! I haven't updated in nearly 2 weeks?

Ok, you know one's life is a little hectic when she has had to ignore her blog. Sooooooooo... well, let's see. I have a new job :o) same company, but different position, and it came with my own office, woot! I am the assistant to the Director and it feels good to be back in a secretarial/PA type role.

Wedding plans are coming along.... 10 weeks this Saturday eeeeeek! can you believe it? not me.... anyhoo, things are starting to gel and I think will be all good on the day. Over Easter we headed to the quaint little town of Little Fort, BC where the usual fun family get together/dinner/easter egg hunt/beer hunt and ball game took place. This year though the family decided to throw a surprise Bridal shower for my honey and I, it was truely a special night. We came away with some lovely presents, including a family recipe book put together by Adam's aunty, with contributions from all the family..... it brought tears to my eyes to see how much love and care went into this. The greatest gift of all though was to feel the love and support of my new found family here in Canada, it's truely wonderful. Being away from my own Mum and Dad and family is so hard and it's nice to have that same feeling of being truely loved here. I can't wait till we are all together in June.

Let's see.... what else, well Jack Bauer is kicking arse in "24" He is the super hero who saves the world in a day! and also we are well into the new season of Amazing Race, and I have to say this.....I hate Rob and Amber!!!! grrrrr..... I am not impressed they let them take part having already been winners on sucky Survivor... hopefully they will trip and fall, and maybe break something.

Right, off to watch some Hockey, yes Hockey!! there is still good junior hockey to be had while the millionaires club takes a break... Go Giants Go!
