4 Months.... and what an angel he is.
Yes, the wee man is 4 months old today... my goodness how time flies. He is becoming the most interesting and funny little guy with quite a personality.
On Monday it was like a switch flicked in his head and he suddenly decided he would try testing us when it came to crying. Basically up until this point I had feed him to sleep and that was it... lights out. On Monday night however after doing my usual thing with him, I put him down and he immediately launched into song. After much scratching our heads and me feeding him again he finally conked out at 10.45 much to our disbelief as he was normally in bed by 8.30. The next night he began to repeat this pattern, so at 9pm Adam just put him down and we let him *cry it out* Well low and behold after about 5-8 mins of this he was gone and slept till his usual glorious 7.30-7.45am. So this week has been a week of firsts for us that is for sure.
Now he is going down at 7.45pm (with moderate crying) and still sleeping till the same time, amazing! His other first this week was learning to roll onto his side which he delighted in doing for us over dinner last night, it was so exciting!
I never got around to posting about xmas, but needless to say we all had a fantastic time, got spoiled rotten and ate gobs! of turkey. This breastfeeding is the most fantastic diet, I can eat like a horse right now and am pretty slim to boot.
Well now that the evening is just the two of us, I think I will take the opportunity to go snuggle up with my hubby and watch some of our DVD's we got for xmas.

New Webcam!
My darling hubby got me a new webcam in the weekend. It's wonderful! The picture quality is way better than the old one I had, mind you that was about 15 years old and one of the original quickcams so it's done well for sure. It is a slick looking thing that clips onto the top of my flatscreen... most excellent for space saving!
I can't wait to show off our precious angel on it now to all the family out of town. Of course when it is off, the last image captured will be displayed.

Merry Christmas!
I just want to take this oppportunity to wish you all a wonderful and very happy holiday season. I hope if you're travelling out of town you arrive safely at your destination, and if you are staying close to home that you have a truely Merry Christmas.
We are leaving for Kamloops on Saturday for what is sure to be a fun filled and hopefully white xmas for us. I am very excited to be sharing xmas with my beautiful baby boy, wonderful husband and all the extended family. I wish I could have all my family together with us for the holidays too, but they can be sure that they will be in my heart and mind on xmas day as they are every day. I look forward to spending a xmas home in New Zealand again someday.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

Knowing for the first time......
that you are the most important person in your childs life..... yes, I absolutely get it, like a hammer smacked me on the head and said "you're it"
Today I had my first real traumatic experience (and really not life or death or anything) with Quentin, one that made me realise how much I mean to him. What was to be an innocent little 2 hour break max for me turned into roughly 20 mins if that.
My sweet sister-in-law asked if she could take Q over to her place (she lives about a 5 min walk away...) for a couple of hours to work on a xmas "surprise". I was of course fine with it, albeit it was my first time letting him go to another house without me. I have been away from him before, but he has always stayed here and been looked after. Also, up until the last couple of weeks he has really been ok with other family even if he does not really know them all that well yet. During the last couple of weeks though Q has really started to recognise Adam and I, especially from distance, and looks for us when he wakes up, or just in general if he is lying on the sofa or wherever, so I did warn Jordan he might look a little startled if he cannot find either of us when he wakes up at her place.... startled? more like terrified.
He woke up just as they were getting to her door, and no amount of puppy waving or ducky quacking was about to passify him. Needless to say whilst elbow deep in cleaning my bathroom I received a somewhat frantic call for help. What I found rather funny later was that Gavin (J's boyfriend) was rather calm in his wonderfully hilarious british way.... it went something like this "Hello", "Hi Donna, it's Gavin here.... we are having a wee bit of a problem (insert continuous screaming baby in the background, and sounds of a distraught sister-in-law)... uhm, any chance you could come over" (insert sister-in-law's panicked voice in the background... "tell her to get here RIGHT NOW".
Needless to say I dropped cleaning products and gloves and took off at a fairly fast jog and arrived to my son just beside himself. Guilt was written all over Jordans face and no amount of telling her it was not her fault could console her for awhile. Meanwhile after 10-15 mins of some serious consoling my little man realised I was there and his world was once again restored to peace and harmony, not to mention some warm milk and a nappy change along the way helping restore his level of calmness.
It didn't really hit me until I got home.... after some soothing words and cuddles and rocking him to sleep in his stroller did I finally break down and have a good cry myself......
welcome to motherhood Donna.....
Snow snow and cold temps.......
Well last Saturday the snow started falling here in Vancouver and it kept falling and falling and falling..... yes, we have lots of it right now, alot!... well for Vancouver and it is very cold. Currently it is -6 outside and although that pales in comparison to other parts of BC and Canada, it is cold for what is normally a very temperant climate here on the West Coast. I have taken several pictures and will have them up in our shared Gallery soon.
Meanwhile our little boy is thriving, smiling, growing and just generally the happiest little man on earth. He sleeps well (anywhere up to 8 hours a night) and is starting to develop the most wonderful personality, we love him so much we can't express it in words. Today he got his first xmas card from his New Zealand Grandparents. I will tell him all about it when he wakes up! Meanwhile check out some more pictures of him in the 2-4 month album, especially the ones from our recent post-natal reunion, where 5 other couples showed up with their babies, what a riot we had taking the photos, just hilarious!

Rugby Highlights!! oh... wait, not if you live in Canada....
I recently wrote to the Editors of STUFF to voice my displeasure, my letter is below.
http://stuff.co.nz/
Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to you from Vancouver, Canada where I now reside. I am an expat Kiwi (Christchurch) living here for the past 6 years and am an avid reader of Stuff.
Today I was delighted!!! to find your new video highlight section on Rugby games, especially the All Blacks and in particular the recent test against France which I understand from what I read was an outstanding match.
To my absolute horror and dismay, you have restricted these videos to people living in New Zealand and Australia. WHY?!?! Do you think people living back home need to go online to watch highlights when they have the luxury of watching the games live on TV. Do you realise how many expat Kiwis around the world are desperate for Rugby, even highlights??? Do you not realise here in Canada, Rugby is not a priority, and unless you can get Fox Sport, are out of luck at seeing anything that resembles an All Black Game!
Why did you even bother putting these online and then restricting them to such a ridiculously small audience. Way to go Stuff, you're about to loose a reader unless you can convince me why I should stay, not to mention I'll be posting this on my BLOG for all my other loyal Kiwi readers to be informed about.
Disgruntled and Disheartned Rugby Fan.

New Pictures to come!
Quentin is now 2 months old exactly and doing extremely well! He is a fit, healthy man of 14 pounds lol! He is due for his first immunizations this week, and I have to say I am not really looking forward to it, but it has to be done.
I am currently working on a new album in the baby gallery for 2-4 months and those pictures should be up in the next couple of days.
Duty calls.... bubby is hungry.
