The baby boy is almost one? And, a new blog...

Somebody please tell me what happened to the past year - there's been so much that's happened in the past year it's amazing. Now I know why new parents don't have much to talk about except their child - it's an all-engrossing experience (if you pay any attention at all to your child). It's been great, but if someone were to ask what we've been doing outside of the scope of the baby, you'd get a big 'uhhhh' out of me.

One of the things that we've been doing as a family for fun is geocaching. It's something we can all do together, for the most part (we haven't tried dragging the baby boy out for, oh, snow covered hikes or anything). It gets us all out of the house and we've seen so many places we never would have been to on our own... and, it's a lot of fun.

I've started a separate geocaching blog at geocaching.kiwicanuck.ca to talk about our adventures and also bring up some technical points along the way. Do drop by for a visit, won't you?

7 years today.......

I stepped onto Canadian soil for the second time. The difference being that in my heart I knew that I would never be going home, permanently that is.

7 years.... I shake my head in disbelief that it has been this long. In someways it still feels like yesterday, and in others it feels like a lifetime ago. I have a new found peace here, one that feels right in everyway possible. A wonderful husband, and an adorable son who I could not be more proud of. I have applied for Canadian citizenship... of course not giving up what I hold most dear. I will after all, always be Kiwi and proud of where I come from.

A few new pictures of our prince

There are some new pictures in the gallery of Q. Months 5-7 and a new album 8-12. I am astounded how fast he is growing and changing. Also, a new video of him can be found in his video album... it's so damn cute!

oh my goodness.. a post!

Ok, so it's been forever since I blogged as well. My days are so full and busy with our little guy, he keeps me on my toes constantly.

I have also been really enjoying geocaching as mentioned by my honey in his recent post. It's fun and challenging trying to find these well hidden and often extremely well disguised little caches. A recent one took us several visits and a fresh pair of eyes (thanks Jordan) to finally discover it.

Facebook (or crackbook as it's referred to) has definately captivated me as well. It has proven to be alot of fun and also a great tool in helping me catch up with a bunch of ex and current ADTer's who I have not spoken to in awhile.

Quentin is growing like crazy and is a happy healthy 8.5 month old now. Time has just flown! I can hardly believe he is going to be reaching his first birthday in 3.5 short months. He now has 3 teeth, 2 bottom and 1 top (eye tooth) and is rolling around rather well. He has not made an effort to crawl yet, but I don't think it will be too far away. We will definately have to start doing some serious baby proofing once he is up and going.

Our weather is unseasonably warm for this time of year and we are enjoying the wonderful warm evenings. I look forward to it continuing well into August. My Mum and Dad will be here in late July for a quick visit, something I am very much looking forward too. Mum has not seen Q since he was 6 weeks old, and my Dad not at all :o( I hope to make every moment with their grandson a memorable and precious one.

Well time to chill before hitting the hay.

Catching up

Well, it's been months and months since I've posted anything... figured I would play a touch of catch-up here...

First and foremost, I've truly been enjoying being a father. There's nothing like spending time with your child, and it's truly something very special to watch him develop and enjoy life.

Second, since getting a handheld GPS unit at Christmas, we've got in to the sport of geocaching, thanks to the suggestion of my uncle. We've been out exploring our "back yard" and seeing lots of places we never knew existed. Getting the fresh air and exercise hasn't been a bad thing either.

Now that the weather's improving, I expect we'll be out caching a little more than the first few months have given us opportunity to.

Most recently I've been sucked in to crackbook, er, facebook. It's quite an interesting site of it's type, and normally I wouldn't have anything to do with sites like that, but after a good friend and my sister both mentioned it within a period of a week, I figured I'd check it out again - the first time I went to see what it was about it was locked out to everyone but college students.

Anyhow, I've only been a part of it for a few days, and it's been great because of the people on it... I've already caught up with a friend from my high school days, which has made it worthwhile all in itself.

And of course, work is work, and I'd better go get some rest if I want to show up for it tomorrow...

wow.. no blogging!

I can't believe I have not blogged since the 12th.... actually I can, I have a baby! lol.

Life has been good, very full and busy. Uhm... in short since then Quentin is growing and doing great and yes I will get more photos online very soon. My mother-in-law stayed with us for a week while my darling was in Toronto. Oh yeah, so Adam was in Toronto for a week that turned into a week from hell for him..... firstly he got sick so that sucked, then when he tried to fly home that was apparently just to much to ask. Between the original flight being cancelled and the emergency landing in Calgary! it took him all in all 21 hours to get here... I could have flown home and half way back in that time! lol. Needless to say it was a very sucky day for him, but he arrived safe and sound.

Well, it's almost 7.30 and duty calls, the darling will be requiring attention imminently.

Oh yes, and it's my birthday today! happy birthday to me :)

4 Months.... and what an angel he is.

Yes, the wee man is 4 months old today... my goodness how time flies. He is becoming the most interesting and funny little guy with quite a personality.

On Monday it was like a switch flicked in his head and he suddenly decided he would try testing us when it came to crying. Basically up until this point I had feed him to sleep and that was it... lights out. On Monday night however after doing my usual thing with him, I put him down and he immediately launched into song. After much scratching our heads and me feeding him again he finally conked out at 10.45 much to our disbelief as he was normally in bed by 8.30. The next night he began to repeat this pattern, so at 9pm Adam just put him down and we let him *cry it out* Well low and behold after about 5-8 mins of this he was gone and slept till his usual glorious 7.30-7.45am. So this week has been a week of firsts for us that is for sure.

Now he is going down at 7.45pm (with moderate crying) and still sleeping till the same time, amazing! His other first this week was learning to roll onto his side which he delighted in doing for us over dinner last night, it was so exciting!

I never got around to posting about xmas, but needless to say we all had a fantastic time, got spoiled rotten and ate gobs! of turkey. This breastfeeding is the most fantastic diet, I can eat like a horse right now and am pretty slim to boot.

Well now that the evening is just the two of us, I think I will take the opportunity to go snuggle up with my hubby and watch some of our DVD's we got for xmas.
